News
09/11/2024 Today I would like to present 3 news:
  • There is a new chapter on the Hardware expansions page. Here I describe how to build a MIDI cable for the ZX Spectrum 128k and its successors. I also provide some material for a first test of the MIDI interface.
  • There is also news for the ZX MIDI Player. Two new versions are now available for the ZX Spectrum +3 and ZX Spectrum Next.
  • The entire Spectrum site is now available in English. The language can be switched between English and German in the left-hand menu. I have used the DeepL translator and hope the content is understandable.
01/09/2024 I have added the ZX MIDI Player to the Software page. I didn't write it, but I added a few lines of code to make it possible to use the player on the ZX Spectrum Next. This means that there are now 2 programs that can work with the Next MIDI Box.
25/08/2024 After 3 years it's time for some news again:
  • The Next MIDI Box has been added to the Hardware expansions page. With this relatively simple add-on, the ZX Spectrum Next can be upgraded to a full MIDI device. All ports (MIDI OUT, MIDI IN and MIDI THRU) are available to send and receive MIDI data.
  • The Simple MIDI Monitor has been added to the Software page. This MIDI monitor, written in NextBASIC, demonstrates the reception of MIDI data on a ZX Spectrum Next via the Next MIDI Box.
  • Some devices have been added to the My computers page.
  • The Links page has been completely reworked.
29/08/2021 The Software page has been updated to support ESXDOS 0.8.9. The latest version of ESXDOS is now also available as an installer package for DivIDE Plus.
10/10/2020 The Software page has been updated. Three new downloads have been added which are specifically for the DivIDE Plus: A manual for the DivIDE Plus, the current ResiDOS version 2.30 and the current version 0.8.8 of ESXDOS with a flash utility for the DivIDE Plus. As the installation of new firmware on the DivIDE Plus is a bit tricky, there is also a description of the installation procedure using ESXDOS and FATware as examples.
17/01/2016 After a long time an update of the site was necessary. A large part of the Spectrum page was not quite HTML compliant and this has now been corrected. I also took the opportunity to remove the outdated frame structure and convert all pages to CSS. The My computers page has also been expanded and the Links updated.
08/12/2009 The +divide Manager has now been updated to version 1.00. The functionality has not changed, only one setting has been changed. This has the effect that the program window now always appears in the middle of the screen. I have also created an English version of the +divide manager. Of course, it would be better to have a program that could switch between two or more languages, but I don't have the time.
11/06/2007 There is a new version of the +divide Manager, currently version 0.50. Unlike previous versions, it is now possible to partially use a CF card for +divide, where you can specify the number of disc images you want. For example, Z80, SNA and TAP files can be copied to the remaining space and used with FATware. There is no need to change the memory card after a firmware change - all data can be stored on a single card.
28/05/2007 There are two new features on this page:
  • A „glass“ ZX Microdrive has been added to the My computers page. Unfortunately I could not find an original ZX Microdrive. But I had the chance to buy 2 drives from the Sinclair QL and I put one of them in a plexiglass case.
  • The first tinkering can now finally be found on the Hardware expansions page. This is a ROM module for the ZX Interface 2, which is equipped with a large Flash ROM and offers space for 32 memory banks.
05/01/2007 I had some time over the holidays and was finally able to finish improving, repairing and in some cases upgrading my Spectrum computers. You can now read about the most important improvements on the Hardware tunings page. I have tried to document everything clearly with pictures and circuits, and I hope I have succeeded.

Later on I would also like to present some hardware extensions on the still empty Hardware expansions page. But that will take some time.
10/12/2006 Although the Sinclair computers are obsolete and have been out of production for a long time, there are still some people who work with them. I also worked intensively with a ZX Spectrum 48k and a ZX Spectrum 128k from 1986 to 1994. Then a PC took over and the ZX Spectrum fell into oblivion...

During a spontaneous visit to a Spectrum meeting in 2005, my interest was suddenly revived and I bought a few machines again. Some of them had to be repaired or overhauled, but now most of them work perfectly again.

On these pages I would like to present my computers and some additional equipment. You can also always download the latest version of my software +divide Manager and soon there will be some Spectrum related handicrafts.
